The rule of thirds is very effective when learning to get pictures with a nice composition.When using the rule of thirds place the most important part of your picture in one of the points where the two lines intersect. Never place your subject in the middle of the frame. This makes for a very lifeless photo. Although rules are made to be broken It's important to learn and understand them first.
